Located just a bit south west of Virginia Beach, Chesapeake Virginia is a beautiful area of the county to visit. There are also a variety of things to do if you are looking to visit Chesapeake Virginia. There are some good restaurants, nice parks to stroll through, and other places to spend time at. If you are planning to come through this region then consider making a trip to any of the locations below and you are sure to have a great time.
# 10 – Oak Grove Lake Park
This is a top location to check when you are in Chesapeake and it offers a great view and place to walk around to enjoy the weather and get some fresh air. If you want to come with some friends or the kids and take some photos then you might really enjoy walking around the lake park here.

This is a top place to explore in Chesapeake if you are looking to see something a little different. Want to come to a sweet place with the kids? Come to a great candy store in this region. Want some rollers? Taffy pullers? And many other sweets? This candy shop is one that has been around for many years and is family-owned. It is a great place to find some great candy and sweets.

If you are hungry and want some great food from a family-owned business then come on over to this crab seafood hot spot. You can easily order online and there are so many great dishes available on their menu. They have got a delicious pork bbq dinner, or some great shrimp, a steam pot, and much more. You will love the seafood here and the variety. This would be the perfect place to go with a group and have some food that comes at a great price and tastes great too.
# 6 – Dismal Swamp Canal Trail

If you want to do some walking and get exercise then head on over to the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail. This is where you will want to bring your comfortable walking shoes. Bring a water bottle with you too and don’t forget your camera to grab some photos in case you come across some wildlife that you want to grab a photo of.
# 5 – Northwest River Park
The Northwest River Park has a lot of good options for walking around and seeing some trees and different plants. If you want to enjoy a beautiful day and get outside then this would be a great place to start off. There is also a campground here as well so it’s a great place to come and visit in the summer and spend some time. This is a huge park with lots to see and plenty of room to roam. This park is a 763-acre park located right by the Northwest River and you will find people engaging in a variety of activities like fishing, hiking, canoeing, and more.

This is where you can come and grab some delicious American food. Here you will come across a great menu that is featuring classic Southern-style comfort dishes. It is a comfortable space that is great to come to visit with friends or family, bring the kids without any problem. Try the sausage wonton bites, Maple Walnut Chicken, or Bourbon Glazed salmon. Want to do some bowling while you are on vacation? Then head over to AMF Chesapeake Lanes with the family and get some time in bowling while you are here. You are bound to have a lot of fun together. There are a variety of bowling alleys that you can hit and play with the kids or some friends you might be with. There is also a chance to grab some good cheap food here as well, your usual fast food hits. It is a great space for a larger party event or if you are traveling with more people.

Right now because of COVID-19 the movie theater might have limited showings for some time, but depending on when you make your trip this might be a great place to visit. There is nothing better than grabbing some snacks and hitting the movies with your loved ones. If you are looking to have a memorable visit and want to enjoy a good movie while you are here then head on over to the American Theater to do it. They are showing a variety of old classics right now.

This mall is one that stretches over 900,000 sq ft and offers plenty of shopping choices if you want to buy something new. There are upper and lower levels and it is certainly a place where you will want to bring the comfortable walking shoes if you plan on shopping awhile. They’ve got places like Dillard’s, American Eagle, Foot Locker, Bath & Body Works, Sunglass Hut, and other shops. When you get hungry again after all of the shopping then you can stop in and grab a bite from Chick-fil-A, or The Twisted Crab, among other options. It is the best mall in the area to do your shopping at.
